Olive Tree Care for Coastal Gardens
Olive trees are well-suited to coastal environments, but proper care will help them flourish:
Sun & Soil: Plant in a sunny location with well-draining, sandy or loamy soil. Avoid heavy clay soils unless improved with organic matter and sand.
Watering: While drought-tolerant, newly planted trees need regular watering until established, this will also remove air pockets around root systems. Afterward, they thrive with minimal watering, making them ideal for water-wise gardens.
Wind Resistance: Olive trees naturally withstand strong coastal breezes, but planting in a sheltered position will encourage faster growth.
